Depression

A dark thought
Invited black fog
It found me quickly
Pinning me down
With an almighty force

I can't breathe
In this hellish place
Nothing but despair
Fills my mind
Darkness is upon me

Bloodied and bruised
Naked and used
Vulnerable and exposed
Get me out of this
Lifeless hole

Distract my thoughts
With life and love
Feel the warmth return
I need the light
That feeds the sun

Starting Again

Time to start walking
Destination unknown
It's a big wide horizon
Best you get going

Phenomenal Woman BY MAYA ANGELOU

I love this poem  It inspires me to keep going regardless of where I am in life.

Phenomenal Woman

BY MAYA ANGELOU
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Perspectives

Lake of Despair

Swallow me in

Take my memories

Of happier times

Take my pain

Of past hurts

Take my life

Stop my breath

Before I go

Let me sigh

One last time

Now I'm ready

Swallow me in

Lake of Despair

Horizon of Hope

Shine your light

Upon the path

I now walk

Take my fears

Of what awaits

Give me strength

To go forth

Should I falter

And grow weary

Pick me up

Lead the way

Shine your light

Horizon of Hope

Snake

An email you sent
Said you have left us
That you loved another
And that was our end

Shockwaves bowled us over
Sent us over the edge
Then we were just hanging
Trying not to fall

Holding on together
But alone in our thoughts
How could you do this
You were a family man

Traitor to your blood
Unfaithful to your vows
Selfish to the core
Disgust filled our mouths

Wear your cunning mask
Hide behind your badge
Pretence and charm
Fucking cunt is what you are

Abandoned, we're still hanging
Left to drop or not
Your lack of human compassion
Sums you up ****

We will rise to the challenge
Learn to be forever weary
Of snakes like you
That hide their intentions

Your discarded rubbish
Will become rights to another
Don't look back
When karma delivers

When you are an old man
With time to reflect
You will finally realise
Family is what mattered

Elusive

Your scent has provoked me

Since I was very young

It drives me forward

And backwards

It gives me happiness

And sadness

It brings me highs

And lows

It feeds me

And starves

Yet I still seek you

And dream

I reach out

And touch

I feel you

And yearn

I taste you

And drown

I am so close

And yet so far

Stung

I simply chose

A family of wasps

From which came you

I should be grateful

You found another

Now I can recover

My arse black and blue

I should have seen the warnings

A nest of nasty things

Each one took their turn

And bit me till it burn

But life is about lessons

And I have learned mine

My mistake, my bad

This I now clearly see

I simply chose

A family of wasps

And I am a bee
